A CALL TO BOLDNESS
In September 2021, Sydney Anselmi made a bold move.
The owner of Audacious Boutique in Downtown Pittsburg bought her first downtown building and moved her business to its new location at 211 N. Broadway. It was the type of move that took a lot of planning, a healthy dash of courage, and a scrappy spirit.
And that’s right up her alley.
“Owning a building in Downtown Pitt has been a dream of mine since the days of creating latte flavors at Root,” Anselmi wrote on Facebook shortly after the move. “This week was nothing short of a dream.”
“To empower women to live boldly and audaciously.”
Audacious is part of the booming retail boutique scene in Pittsburg, and Anselmi said she couldn’t be more proud to be part of the city’s small business community.
“Independent, local boutiques and retailers are important to a community for the sense of individualism and personality they add,” she said. “Unique shopping experiences are memorable, and that’s what sets small towns apart. Plus, in a small town, you don’t want to have the same look as everyone else. Shopping with a boutique means your options are catered to you, and it definitely won’t be the same style everyone is ordering from Amazon or the big box retailers.”
More than just selling quality clothing and accessories, Anselmi said she wants to “empower women to live boldly and audaciously.”
“Whether that’s a classic piece of denim made for chasing kids around, or an outfit to slay a big presentation, we’ve got you covered,” she said. “We try to have something for every woman, so friends, sisters, besties, moms and daughters all can find something in our store.”
Anselmi said she’s encouraged and inspired by the retail industry growth in Pittsburg.
“The variety in Pittsburg is getting unreal,” she said. “You have sporting goods, antiques, thrift shops, boutiques, a bookstore, an artist’s co-op…. it’s truly a one-of-a-kind retail community that can meet your shopping needs for just about everything and everyone in your life. I definitely see it transforming into a retail destination for many in the area.”
