About Imagine Pittsburg
Our Mission
Founded in 2010, Imagine Pittsburg is a grassroots, citizen-driven effort to strategically address our city’s opportunities and challenges. Consisting of community and civic leaders with different backgrounds and experiences, the Imagine Pittsburg steering committee aims to improve the community through a variety of initiatives and core focus areas.
The six specific core areas of focus are: Economic Development, Education, Housing, Infrastructure, Marketing, and Public Wellness.
Many of the advances and enhancements throughout Pittsburg are direct results of community input received through the Imagine Pittsburg 2030 planning process.
Construction of the Kansas Crossing Casino, the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, and the Robert W. Plaster Center can be tracked to the Imagine Pittsburg effort, as can expansions at local companies such as Masonite, Kendall Packaging, CDL, and Miller’s. Another significant project that involved the Imagine Pittsburg effort was the installation of more than 100 miles of fiber optic cable that provides high-speed Internet service to businesses and residents.
