Spring is prom season for area schools, and seeing all the youngsters all dressed up in their gowns and tuxedos gets us thinking about date nights in Pittsburg. The city actually has a lot of different ways to enjoy a night out with your special someone.

Here are 5 ideas we have for a special date night in Pitt.

Eat Local

No date night is complete without a really good meal, and Pittsburg has a lot of great options. Jim’s Steakhouse always comes to mind for a special night out. Down the road a bit at Block22, TOAST and Brick + Mortar both offer wonderful dinner options. Around the corner to the southwest is El Caballo Del Oro, one of our best Mexican restaurants in town. There’s also the local legend The Mall Deli on the south end of town at Meadowbrook Mall. Travel a bit east from the mall to find longtime staple, Chatters, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

Live Music

You may not think of Pittsburg as a happening live music scene, but you should. Whether it’s a local pub, coffee shop, or one of our amazing performance venues, Pittsburg has a wide selection of live music performances nearly every week.

Casino Night

The Kansas Crossing Casino on the south end of Pitt can provide all you need for a special date night. If fun, responsible gambling is your thing, they have that. Want a nice dinner and drink? That’s there, to. Wanna catch a concert? Yep. Tired and want to crash in a nice hotel room? Ok. No problem. They have that, too.

Ice Cream

How cute is sharing an ice cream cone or shake on that special night out? Adorable, right? Pittsburg has a lot of places to satisfy that sweet tooth. One of the cutest spots in town is Sugar Rush Sweet Treats in Downtown Pittsburg. It’s locally owned and looks exactly how an ice cream shop should look. TOAST at Block22 has amazing gelato that you just have to try. In either direction of downtown, Pitt also has Dairy Queen, Braum’s, and Freddy’s. Might as well try them all!

Bowling

Up for a little friendly, flirty competition? Holiday Lanes bowling alley is a great spot to unwind, have a beer, wear some interesting looking shoes, and just have a good time. And hey, since you’re there, might as well raise the stakes. Loser buys dessert. (See No. 4)
